Born in Haiti, the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere, Jo faced profound hardship early in life, including the loss of her parents and the instability of a politically turbulent environment. With unwavering resolve, Jo immigrated to the United States in pursuit of a better future. Here, she dedicated more than 30 years to the hospitality industry, working tirelessly to provide opportunity and stability for her four children: Emilie, Edma, Mary, and James. Her strong work ethic, compassion for others, and steadfast faith became the foundation of the life she built for her family.
